St. Matthew - Brady Notes:
The Saints prevailed in a see-saw battle against a determined St. Gabriel squad. The second half began with the Saints enjoying a good lead. St. Gabriel stormed back to take a 4 point lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Momentum had definately swung in the game. Led by Scott Tezza and Christian Chapman, the Saints refused to give up. Scott Tezza led all scorers with an amazing 16 points, eight of which were scored in the final quarter. He also grabbed 5 rebounds. Scott has been a clutch player all season, never more so than in this game. Christian Chapman, playing with a fever, refused to let his teammates down. He had to be taken out of the game a number of times due to his fever but he always went back in when called upon. For the game, Christian scored 13 points(9 in the second half) and grabbed 8 rebounds in what can only be described as a gutty performance. Joey Linus is this week's Ice Cream Rebound winner. Joey was a force on both ends of the court. Conor Brady Chipped in 4 points. Every St. Matthew player had at least one rebound, played determined defense and did everything they could do to contribute to victory. Next up: St. Matthew- O'Shields.
