St. Matthew - Brady Notes:
What a start to the season! In thrilling fashion, the St. Matthew Saints won a nail biter 21-19 over a very tough St. Patrick team. There are no more exciting ways to win a game than by scoring a basket in the last seconds. Christian Chapman played the part of hero, scoring his 8th point of the game with almost no time on the clock. He led all scorers and grabbed 5 rebounds. Matthew Curtin had a game high 12 rebounds and scored 3 points. We believe 12 rebounds is a team record. Matthew's title of Heavy Weight Champion of the rebounding world is safe for yet another week. He is this week's winner of the Ice Cream Rebounding Award and will celebrate at Marble Slab. Jake Lavender played one of his best games ever, scoring 4 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. He protected and distributed the ball very well all day. Scott Tezza scored 2 points and grabbed 2 rebounds. He played unbelievable defense and stole countless passes. He got us the ball back just when we needed it in the closing minutes of the game and helped secure our victory with his determination. Conor Brady played solidly, scoring 2 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Drew Tomich likewise played outstanding, scoring 2 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. He played the best game of his young career. Hudson Hooker, Quinn Mulligan and Drew Markiewicz each grabbed rebounds, fought for every loose ball and showed great passion. To their credit, St. Patrick played a great game and gave us almost more than we could handle. We're happy to escape from them with a victory and take our hats off to their boys and their coaches. Next up: St patrick- Dean on our court.
