| Team Summaries | Evergreen Notes: A strong first-half defensive effort helped carry the Evergreen Lacrosse Club past Tahoma, 11-5 Saturday afternoon at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver. After conceding a goal in the opening minute of the game, the Black Cat defensive unit gave up only one more score for the remainder of the half to help build a 7-2 lead at the break. Emily McCoy scored three goals in the final 11 minutes of the game to lead Evergreen's offensive output, while Madeline McKinnon, Lauren Hurst, and Sarah Neve each added two scores. McKinnon also had five draw controls, while Katherine Borchers dominated midfield play with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Dawn Lumen and Rickee Weygandt combined for five saves in the win. Co-captain Ashley Gowdey scored a hat trick for Tahoma, and goalie Kaylee Bridges-James kept things close with 12 saves for the visitors. Evergreen returns to Nisqually Conference action next Saturday when the Black Cats host Bethel at 1:00. Tahoma Notes: |
