This grass field was one big lake down the middle. It rained all day and all through the game. Senior defender Luke Morris of Providence opened up the scoring with a fast break long pole shot. Junior Caleb Moisant of Providence scored with a long shot on the next possession. A couple minutes later, senior Beau Butaud drove near the crease and scored. Everett scored their first goal near the end of the first quarter on a nice pass from junior Jared Hawkins to junior Ian Strong. The second quarter was even, Providence led 4-2 at halftime. Everett came out blazing in the third quarter, spreading the ball around and making good passes. Midway through the third quarter, Everett scored the go-ahead goal, taking the lead 6-5. But Providence brought Luke Morris to the midfield, where he drove hard and scored on his first possesion. A couple of minutes later, Luke scored again to give Providence the lead 7-6. Late in the third, Senior Chas Stringfellow fed to Ian Strong, who scored to tie the game 7-7. Chas scored again, early in the fourth, and Everett slowed the game down for awhile. Providence created some scoring opportunities, but failed to convert them. Both teams were fighting hard for the ground balls. With 2.5 minutes to go, Luke Morris scooped the ball, got a fast break, dished it to his freshman brother Matthew Morris, who slipped it behind the goalie to tie the game at 8-8. With two minutes to go, Providence got called for a slash. Neither team had scored on a man-up opportunity all night, but just as the penalty ran out, Chas got some time and room and buried a nice shot in the top corner for the game winning goal. Good game, Everett!!

Good job of refereeing by Nathan Wirtz, even though he was the only ref.
