Bellingham - This close match started with Stanwood taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Whatcom slow to start, closed the gap and at half-time, the score was tied 3-3. The teams battled throughout the 3rd quarter to a 5-5 tie. However, Whatcom's offense scored three unanswered goals in the last 9 minutes of the fourth quarter to earn the 8-6 win. The Stanwood offense and ground ball force was led by Medicott, while the Whatcom offensive pressure was balanced between Morris, Bruce, and Veenstra. Both goalies, Hoemann from Whatcom, and Eveland from Stanwood performed well stopping 19 and 13 saves, respectively, while both repelled close to 30 shots each.
